Description:
Pathways to Prosperity addresses the barriers that prevent people from fully participating in the Kurdistan Region’s economy. High unemployment, a mismatch between education and labour market needs, and limited access to entrepreneurship resources in Kurdish areas have left many without the skills, connections, and opportunities to thrive. This program delivers an integrated set of actions: developing Kurdish-language resources for vocational and entrepreneurial education; translating and creating sector-relevant learning materials; designing and delivering accessible training both online and in-person; and connecting participants with mentorship, peer networks, and practical market opportunities. At the institutional level, Pathways to Prosperity supports public, private, and civil society organisations to improve their capacity, align their programs with market realities, and advocate for inclusive economic policies. By combining skills development with systemic reforms, the program aims to create sustainable economic opportunities and empower communities to lead their prosperity.
Climate Pathways for Kurdistan
Type of intervention: Integrated initiative combining language development, knowledge creation, education, green livelihoods, and policy reform.
Recipients: Farmers, rural communities, displaced populations, students, educators, youth, entrepreneurs, policymakers, and local institutions in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Duration: January 2025 – December 2026.
Area of intervention: Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Funded by: Actively seeking funding partners and investors
Description:
Climate Pathways for Kurdistan tackles the urgent challenges of climate change and environmental degradation in the region. Rising temperatures, prolonged droughts, water scarcity, and declining agricultural productivity are threatening livelihoods, especially for rural families. Displacement and health risks are increasing, yet access to climate knowledge and green livelihood opportunities in Kurdish areas remains scarce. The program bridges this gap by developing Kurdish-language resources on climate adaptation, sustainable farming, and green technologies. It delivers accessible training for farmers, educators, youth, and displaced communities (both online and in the field) on topics such as water conservation, renewable energy, and climate-smart agriculture. At the systems level, the program works with institutions to integrate climate literacy into education, strengthen disaster preparedness, and build green economy strategies. Policy advocacy ensures that community voices, especially those of women and vulnerable groups, shape climate action plans. By linking language access, knowledge sharing, and green livelihoods, the program supports a resilient Kurdistan where people can adapt, thrive, and lead in the face of environmental change.
Education for Every Learner
Type of intervention: Integrated initiative combining language development, knowledge creation, teacher training, and inclusive education.
Recipients: Teachers, students, parents, education institutions, communities, and policymakers in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq.
Duration: Ongoing - actively seeking funding
Area of intervention: Kurdistan Region of Iraq
Funded by: Actively seeking funding
Description:
The education system in the Kurdistan Region faces deep-rooted challenges that limit the quality and inclusivity of teaching and learning. Many teachers lack access to modern pedagogical training, inclusive education strategies, and up-to-date resources in Kurdish. Existing curricula place a heavy emphasis on rote memorisation, with insufficient focus on practical skills and critical thinking. This is compounded by limited institutional support for special education and a shortage of context-specific professional development for educators. Education for Every Learner addresses these systemic gaps through a comprehensive program designed to strengthen teacher capacity, enhance learning environments, and engage families as active partners in education. The initiative provides educators with in-depth training across subject mastery, inclusive teaching, use of technology, and strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs. Parents and families receive tailored toolkits, workshops, and resources to help them reinforce learning and work collaboratively with schools. By working directly with teachers, students, families, and institutions, the program builds a stronger, more inclusive education system that serves all learners equitably. It supports lifelong learning, raises teaching standards, and ensures that every child (regardless of background, location, or ability) has the opportunity to reach their full potential.
